Japan Culture Essay
The differences between cultures are upon the geography, philosophy, environment, living life style and history. Each civilization has its own unique. One of a culture in Asia has a lot potential which is really interesting to do research. Japanese culture has variety and different from others in Asia, because there was concerned about history that involved world war 2 in the past. Even more, the festivals on each city are really interesting also, the innovation of technology are powerfully and strongly economic grow. Nowadays, Japanese culture has changed from its original to western culture but in some how they are still being Japanese.
Geography of Japan is mostly surrounded by mountains and ocean. They live between those mountains and ocean side. They also are farmers and tea planter. The geography is concern to food and beverage. In some places, there are temples on the mountain. Almost every village have a temple. Even more, the Japan is on the volcano line which could have explosion anytime. Thus, in the past most of the house are made by wood and paper to against the earthquake and easy to rebuild. Even nowadays the country sides of Japan still have that kind of house because; they believe that feel more comfortable and traditional from grandparent.
Philosophy of Japanese is likely from china and had been a bit changed to fit with them, from the education in mid-school and high school the philosophy have been taught to children to believe their family, to create new things and to do something you like and good at. In contrast, mostly Japanese don’t have religion that is still wondering. They always say I believe in myself and the reality. But they don’t want to do something overrule and try to get themselves not in to any troubles.
The environmental of Japanese are effective to them, such as, food, traditional, clothes style, language and education. First, Japanese food is well known to all around the world, sushi is the one of unique food, they also have the traditional how to eat or to serve the food, sushi is more harder to make and have to be specific gender to cook them, only man can be sushi chef that is from the traditional, because the temperature on the male hands are a bit colder and female, sushi need to be fresh by the temperature, therefore, warmer hands will decrease the freshen of the fish. Nobody say female can’t make sushi but Japanese knows it would be better to have male sushi chef. From my experienced, when Japanese believe something and they think it is right, they would believe without doubt but in fact it is hard to make them believe on another people.
Second, traditional are truly important to all Japanese, they think that all the traditional have meaning for example, hanabi is the traditional festival when the fall time, it is the flower watching or in another name is sakura which are the famous and unique in Japan. In the festival all family members or friends are having drinks and picnics on these holidays. Even more, the temple festival seem like every village would have on occasionally holiday, on that day all villager are ready together to carry the model of temple around the city, to let everybody to joy together at the festival, all teenager will dress the traditional style, yukata is a dress for male and female also specially for the summer time, or female are able to wear the kimono.
Another interesting festival is 20 years old celebration, everybody who have been turning to 20 years old, they would have to go to hometown and dress kimono and male would dress suit, on that day everybody will meet up old friend from high school and mid-school. And another important they will know that they across the line of teenage already to be adult. On the New Year eve, Japanese will have the long vacation; everybody will meet up the all family, go skiing or hot spring (onzen). And having food name Moji, Moji is a rice and flour which have been hit by hammer with man power, father and son will help each other to smack in the big pot until it become sticky, they believe Moji is for lucky and happiness in new year, in that day, all member will say good luck to each other and write something they wanted to paper with brush.
Clothes styles of Japanese in nowadays are influenced from western style, T-shirt and jeans, but real traditional of Japanese are yukata which are more formal in the traditional style. Clothes styles of teenage are western style the most but they mix with the cute and little stuff because western style look is more mature and formal; therefore, Japanese use the western style of clothes but change the look to cuter and softer color. For the carrier people, they dress all the same in the companies which are suit. It is getting harder to see real Japanese traditional clothes style. Especially, in the wedding Japanese style, guy will wear the yakata and lady will wear white kimono and all parent and relative will be there for the wedding, from according to, we will see that Japanese people can create their own style from changing a bit of another; most of people could tell how Japanese people dress. The obviously point are hair style, T-shirt which is look old and have some words printed and tight jeans and look old and never wash, may be in couple month depend on the weather. Because jeans lover believe that jeans should be wash, because color will getting worst. One more thing is shoe. They like to have famous shoe or really colorfully shoe. In contrast no tattoo though, because Japanese mafias have to get tattoo if people who have tattoo will not allow using public bathroom in Japan too.
Hiragana is a one of Japanese alphabet. They have 4 kinds of alphabet, hiragana, katakana, kanji and roman-ji. They are all having same sound just different writing. Hiragana is for thing in traditional Japan and easy to read for children, Katakana is for using in English words or foreigner languages, kanji is look just like Chinese characters and it make sentence shorter and easier to understand. Roman-ji is the English reading sound, using English alphabet instead of Hiragana and Katakana. In some cases, sounds in English have different pronouncing such as, i will pronounce as e. one kanji can have different sound depend on the sentence.
The education in Japan is similar to standard level, most of students in the present time are educate to undergraduate school. The most important time of student are depend on the university that they will graduate to support the job provide in the future, which are really frustrated for most Japanese students have to study hard and go extra academic after class. And for other students who are not really getting in the university would go aboard and look for their dreams and study in university because it will be cheaper for tuition fee in state compare with Japan. They also can study what they want. You are able to see that in every country will have Japanese student around the world.
In the conclusion, Most of Japanese still have the traditional to their country even through, they will bring western culture to use but mix with the Japanese style and becoming their style. they give the respect to older people quite well for some family, grand parent would be treat by family member. Japan culture is the one of unique culture in the world.
